Scorpions are one of the few pests that make Phoenix homeowners genuinely nervous, and for good reason — the bark scorpion, the species most common around the Valley, is the most venomous scorpion in North America. Citizen Pest Control’s scorpion program combines barrier treatment with exclusion work, because treatment alone rarely solves a scorpion problem on its own.

Why scorpions are hard to control with treatment alone

Scorpions don’t respond to pest pressure the way ants or roaches do — they don’t forage in large, treatable trails, and they’re built to survive in places sprays don’t reach, like block wall voids. That’s why exclusion (sealing the gaps they use to get inside) matters as much as the chemical treatment itself. A scorpion program that skips exclusion is treating a symptom, not the cause.

What to expect

A typical scorpion service starts with a UV-light inspection, ideally after dark, since scorpions fluoresce bright blue-green under UV and are far easier to locate at night than during the day. From there we treat known harborage areas and identify entry points for sealing. Recurring visits keep pressure down through peak scorpion season, which in the Valley runs roughly April through October.
